The US is a strategic focal point for European companies.
It’s the largest economy in the world. Seventy percent of total
inward foreign US investment comes from Europe, with the UK being the largest US investor. California, equal in size to the UK’s entire economy, is the world’s sixth largest economy and hosts the largest amount of inward
foreign US investment. The US is the largest market in the world for venture capital: last year nearly $20 billion was invested in entrepreneurial ventures. California, and Silicon Valley specifically, hosts the largest pool of
venture capital funds.
Yet, many expanding companies aren’t ready for US soil.
A host of challenges await: limited knowledge of the
US market; misguided US expansion strategy; unproven US business model; uncertain market opportunity; poor ROI assessment; unstable European presence; unclear US competitive advantage or brand definition — and many others.
